Time 2h50m

Yield 50

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 (18.25 ounce) packages devil's food cake mix
2 cups water
⅔ cup vegetable oil
6 eggs
1 (6 ounce) bag semisweet chocolate chips
1 (16 ounce) package prepared chocolate frosting
2 (14 ounce) bags chocolate confectioners' coating
50 lollipop sticks
2 (14 ounce) bags white confectioners' coating
1 (1.75 ounce) package multicolored candy sprinkles, or as needed
½ cup chopped nuts, or as needed
styrofoam blocks

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Blend cake mix, water, oil, and eggs in a large bowl at low speed with an electric mixer until moistened. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 26 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Crumble cake while still warm into a large bowl and stir in chocolate chips. Once chocolate chips have melted, stir in frosting. Mix by hand until the mixture has a dough-like consistency.
  • Scoop cake mixture with a melon baller or small scoop, round each scoop into a ball using your hands, and place on a baking sheet. Freeze cake balls for 10 minutes.
  • Melt about 1/4 the chocolate coating in a microwave-safe glass or ceramic bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring after each melting, for 1 to 3 minutes.
  • Remove cake balls from freezer. Dip each stick into melted chocolate and insert all the way through cake balls. The melted chocolate will harden and hold cake on the stick. Return to the freezer for 10 minutes.
  • Melt remaining chocolate coating and white chocolate coating in separate microwave-safe bowls in 30-second intervals, stirring after each melting, for 1 to 3 minutes. Remove cake pops from freezer; dip each cake pop in either melted white chocolate or chocolate. Spoon sprinkles or chopped nuts over cake pops before the coating hardens. Stick each cake pop upright into the styrofoam blocks until candy shell hardens. Refrigerate cake pops until ready to serve.

3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
3 tbsp cocoa
2 eggs
3/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
24 lollipops sticks
12 oz. chocolate bark coating (CandiQuik)
assorted sprinkles

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 325 F. Grease pan set aside. In medium saucepan, over low heat melt chocolate chips and butter together; stir until smooth. Remove from heat and pour into medium bowl. Add sugar and cocoa; mix until blended. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add flour and salt; stir until blended. Spoon batter into bottom half of pan (without holes) filling each well so it mounds over the top of the pan. Place top half of plan on top and secure with keys. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until toothpick inserted comes out almost clean. Cool 5 minutes in pan, remove cake pops from pan to cool completely. Melt chocolate according to package directions. Dip lollipop stick into melted chocolate and insert into cakes; repeat with all cakes. Allow chocolate to cool to secure stick in place. Dip cake pops in melted chocolate, spinning to let excess chocolate drip off. Decorate with sprinkles a desired place on parchment paper to set.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use a high-quality chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70%. This will give your cake pops a rich, decadent flavor.
  • When melting the chocolate, be careful not to overheat it. This can cause the chocolate to seize and become grainy.
  • If you're having trouble getting the cake pops to hold together, try chilling them for a few minutes before dipping them in the chocolate.
  • To make the cake pops extra special, try decorating them with sprinkles, chopped nuts, or edible glitter.
  • Cake pops can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Just be sure to bring them to room temperature before serving.

Conclusion:

Cake pops are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They're perfect for parties, bake sales, or just a fun snack. With a little creativity, you can easily customize your cake pops to match any theme or occasion.
