SIMPLE BAKED RICE

Simple Baked Rice image

Rice infused with garlic and onion baked in chicken stock. A wonderfully simple dish even picky eaters will enjoy. I use homemade stock as it's the most flavorful, but use whatever you have on hand. Another option is adding whatever leftover veggies or meat I have to make a simple casserole without a heavy cream sauce. This recipe uses a rice-to-liquid ratio of 2:1 for long-grain rice.

Tips:

  • Choose the right type of rice: Long-grain, medium-grain, and short-grain rice can all be used to make garlic mashed creamed rice, but medium-grain rice is the best choice for a creamy and fluffy texture.
  • Use fresh garlic: Fresh garlic has a bolder flavor than garlic powder or garlic salt, so it's best to use fresh cloves whenever possible.
  • Don't overcook the rice: Overcooked rice will be mushy and will not hold its shape well. Cook the rice according to the package directions, or until it is tender but still has a slight bite to it.
  • Use a food processor or blender to puree the rice: This will help to create a smooth and creamy texture. If you don't have a food processor or blender, you can mash the rice with a potato masher or fork, but it will take longer and the texture will not be as smooth.
  • Season the rice to taste: Be sure to season the rice with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. You can also add other seasonings, such as herbs, spices, or grated Parmesan cheese.

Conclusion:

Garlic mashed creamed rice is a delicious and versatile side dish that can be served with a variety of main courses. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it simple or loaded with flavor, garlic mashed creamed rice is sure to be a hit at your next meal.
