Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup(s) whole wheat flour
3 cup(s) all purpose flour
1 cup(s) finely ground almonds

1/2 cup(s) sugar
1 tablespoon(s) salt
3/4 cup(s) baking powder
JARS
5 pint(s) jars

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, stir all ingredients together until well blended. Store in a airtight container or a resealable plastic bag.
  • Yields about 10 cups pancake mix, enough for 5 batches of pancakes. Give with the following recipe for pancakes.
  • Almond Pancakes: 2 1/2 cups pancake mix 1 1/4 cups water 1 egg 2 tablespoons vegetable oil In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients, and stir just until moistened. Heat a greased griddle over medium heat. For each pancake, pour about 1/4 cup batter onto griddle and cook until top of pancake is full of bubbles and underside is golden brown. Turn with a spatula and cook until remaining side is golden brown. Re-grease griddle as necessary. Serve with butter and syrup. Yields about 1 dozen 5-inch pancakes
  • I make labels for the jars or packages, or I make a recipe card with a hole punched in it to hang on the ribbon that I attach to the jar. I also use a plate or other round item to trace circles 3 - 4 inches bigger around than the jar lid. I use a rubber band to attach the cloth circle to cover the lid/ring on the jar. Then I tie a pretty ribbon on to cover the rubber band and to attach the recipe card. Then tie a pretty bow.
  • *** If you want to, go ahead and add chocolate or butterscotch chips.

Tips:

  • Use a wide-mouth jar for easy filling and scooping.
  • Pack the ingredients tightly to prevent settling.
  • Seal the jar tightly to keep the ingredients fresh.
  • Include a personalized label with instructions and a gift tag.
  • Add a small whisk or spoon for easy mixing.
  • Consider adding other ingredients to the jar, such as chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruit.
  • Store the jar in a cool, dry place until ready to use.
