Tips:

  • Soften butter at room temperature: This ensures that the butter is evenly incorporated into the batter, resulting in a smooth and creamy texture.
  • Cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy: This process incorporates air into the mixture, making the bars tender and airy.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time: Add each egg individually, beating well after each addition. This prevents the eggs from curdling and ensures that they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt: Sifting the dry ingredients together ensures that they are evenly distributed throughout the batter, resulting in a smooth and consistent texture.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients: Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in small increments, mixing well after each addition. This prevents the batter from becoming lumpy.
  • Spread batter evenly into a greased and floured 9x13 inch baking pan: Use a rubber spatula to evenly distribute the batter in the pan, ensuring that it reaches all corners and edges.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25-30 minutes: Bake the bars until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Do not overbake, as this can dry out the bars.
  • Cool completely before glazing: Allow the bars to cool completely before applying the glaze. This helps the glaze set properly and prevents it from soaking into the bars.
