Tips:

  • To make light and fluffy gnocchi, it is important to not overwork the dough. Mix the ingredients just until they come together, and then stop.
  • If the gnocchi dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. If it is too dry, add a little more water.
  • To prevent the gnocchi from sticking together, lightly coat them with flour before cooking.
  • Cook the gnocchi in boiling salted water until they float to the top. Do not overcrowd the pot, or the gnocchi will stick together.
  • Once the gnocchi are cooked, remove them from the water and immediately toss them with olive oil to prevent them from sticking together.
  • To make the meat sauce, brown the ground beef and sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Add the onion, garlic, and green pepper to the skillet and cook until they are softened.
  • Stir in the tomatoes, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer and cook for at least 30 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve the gnocchi with the meat sauce and grated Parmesan cheese.
