Tips:

  • Choose fresh and firm rhubarb: Look for stalks that are bright red or pink, with few blemishes. Avoid stalks that are wilted or have brown spots.
  • Trim the rhubarb: Cut off the leaves and the bottom inch of the stalk. Wash the rhubarb well and pat dry.
  • Slice the rhubarb: Cut the rhubarb into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  • Don't overcook the rhubarb: Rhubarb only needs to be cooked until it is tender, about 5-7 minutes. Overcooking will make it mushy.
  • Use a variety of spices: Rhubarb pairs well with a variety of spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Experiment to find your favorite combination.
  • Get creative with your toppings: Rhubarb squares can be topped with a variety of ingredients, such as streusel, oats, nuts, or even a scoop of ice cream.

Conclusion:

Rhubarb squares are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that can be enjoyed all year round. With their tart and tangy flavor, they are a perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth without feeling guilty. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dessert, give rhubarb squares a try. You won't be disappointed!
