GOLDEN AIR-FRIED CHICKEN TENDERS

Golden Air-Fried Chicken Tenders image

These chicken tenders are coated in a honeyed cornbread coating and air-fried to perfection. I used homemade cornbread when I developed this recipe, but prepared store-bought cornbread is perfectly fine. The spices I use are sold by Savory Spice® shop and I can't guarantee results with substitutes. Serve with your preferred choice of sauce.

Time 5m

Yield 1 cup approximately

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/4 cup cooking oil
1/2 cup flour, plus
2 tablespoons flour
3/4 cup milk
1 egg, small

Steps:

  • Stir oil into the flour.
  • Add milk and egg, whipping with whisk until smooth.
  • Mixture should have the consistency of heavy cream. If it is too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time until until it "looks right".
  • The perfect breading with this batter is cracker meal. Just whirl the crackers in your processor until it is very fine.

Tips:

  • Use buttermilk to tenderize the chicken. Buttermilk contains lactic acid, which helps to break down the proteins in the chicken, making it more tender and juicy.
  • Make sure the chicken is completely coated in the batter before frying. This will help to ensure that the chicken is cooked evenly and that the batter doesn't fall off.
  • Fry the chicken in hot oil. This will help to create a crispy crust and prevent the chicken from becoming greasy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when frying the chicken. This will cause the chicken to steam instead of fry, resulting in a soggy crust.
  • Serve the chicken immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Golden fry chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
