Berry Good French Toast Bake image

This is a warm French toast dish my step-mom made once years ago, and my kids have never stopped asking for it. Now they are making it for their kids! Drizzle melted butter over each serving, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve with warm maple syrup. Strawberries can be used in place of blueberries.

Tips:

  • Use thick-cut bread for a sturdier french toast that can hold up to toppings and fillings.
  • Stale bread works best for french toast because it absorbs the egg mixture more evenly and results in a crispier crust.
  • Use a mixture of milk and eggs for the dipping mixture. This will give the french toast a richer flavor and texture.
  • Add spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, or vanilla, to the dipping mixture for a more flavorful french toast.
  • Cook the french toast over medium heat so that it has time to cook through without burning.
  • Serve the french toast with your favorite toppings, such as butter, syrup, fruit, or whipped cream.
