2 tablespoons flour
1/4 cup cold butter

  • 2. OVEN TEMPERATURE AND TIME: Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees and bake 30 minutes.
  • 3. MAKING THE 1ST LAYER: in the small mixing bowl, combine the sliced pears and the seedless, halved grapes. Add 2 tablespoons of flour and the almond extract and mix gently. Add this mixture evenly to the greased glass baking dish.
  • 4. MAKING THE 2ND LAYER: In the medium mixing bowl, add brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Cut in the butter in until the mixture is of a coarse texture. • 5. Cook's Tip: Use with any combination of fruit or pie filling.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe and flavorful fruits: This will ensure that your crisp is packed with flavor. If you're using grapes, look for firm, plump grapes without any blemishes. For pears, choose ripe pears that are slightly firm to the touch.
  • Use a variety of fruits: This will add complexity and depth of flavor to your crisp. You can use any combination of fruits that you like, but some good options include apples, peaches, plums, and berries.
  • Don't overmix the topping: You want the topping to be crumbly, so don't overmix it. Just mix it until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Bake the crisp until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling: This will ensure that the crisp is cooked through and that the topping is crispy.
  • Serve the crisp warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream: This is the perfect way to enjoy a delicious and comforting crisp.
