Green bean alfredo casserole image

Wasn't brave enough to try this out for Thanksgiving since my family may have lynched me due to the fact that they have me make 2 casserole dishes of the traditional cream of mushroom green bean casserole every year, but I do want to try it soon.

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 Tbsp butter
1 pkg alfredo sauce mix
1 1/2 c whole milk
1 1/4 c grated parmesan cheese
4 oz penchetta diced
2 clove garlic minced
2 c fresh mushrooms sliced
1 lb frozen cut green beans
1 Tbsp pepper
2 1/2 c canned crispy onions

Steps:

  • 1. Heat saucepan to medium add butter, alfredo sauce, milk, and parmesan cheese. Bring to a simmer and keep stirring until thickened, then set aside.
  • 2. Fry italian bacon (panchetta) until light brown, then add garlic, and mushrooms while continuing to fry it. About 3-4 minutes longer until tender. Set aside.
  • 3. In 8x8 casserole dish place thawed green beans, add your alfredo mixture, add your fried mixture, ground pepper, and 1/2 cup of crispy onions. Stir all together. Bake for 20 minutes on 350.
  • 4. Take out of oven, top with remaining crispy onion and rest of parmesan cheese, bake another 10 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh green beans: Look for beans that are bright green and snap easily. Avoid beans that are limp or have brown spots.
  • Cook the green beans properly: To preserve their vibrant color and texture, blanch the green beans in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then immediately transfer them to an ice bath. This will stop the cooking process and keep the beans crisp.
  • Use high-quality Alfredo sauce: A creamy, flavorful Alfredo sauce is essential for this casserole. Look for a sauce that is made with real Parmesan cheese and butter. You can also make your own Alfredo sauce from scratch using a simple recipe.
  • Don't overcook the casserole: Bake the casserole just until the sauce is bubbly and the cheese is melted. Overcooking will make the casserole dry and tough.
  • Serve immediately: Green bean Alfredo casserole is best served hot out of the oven. Top with additional Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley for garnish.

Conclusion:

Green bean Alfredo casserole is a delicious and comforting dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its creamy Alfredo sauce, tender green beans, and melted cheese, this casserole is sure to be a hit with everyone at the table.
