Yield 18 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon citrus lemon pepper
1 teaspoon garlic
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice
4 tablespoons butter, melted
9 slices bacon
18 prawns
18 wooden skewers, soaked in water for at least 15 min

Steps:

  • Combine butter and spices, add shrimp, stirring to coat the shrimp. Let shrimp marinate for 1 to 2 hours.
  • Slice bacon in half and cook over medium high heat to render out some fat, keeping bacon flexible. Drain the bacon and pat grease out with a paper towel.
  • Wrap each piece of shrimp with a piece of bacon. Slide on to skewers. If you use wooden skewers, the skewers need to be soaked in water for about 15 minute in water or use metal ones.
  • Grill on a hot grill until shrimp are opaque. Use remainder of marinade when turning the shrimp.

Marinate shrimp in tequila and garlic, wrap them in bacon and grill them with lime.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 55m

Yield 6-8

Number Of Ingredients 7

16 jumbo shrimp, peeled, de-veined, and tail on (about 1 1/4 pounds)
1/2 cup tequila, preferably Anejo
4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil, plus more for brushing the grill grates
16 slices bacon (not thick cut)
2 limes, each cut into 6 wedges

Steps:

  • Toss the shrimp in a large bowl with the tequila, garlic and a pinch each of salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes up to 1 hour.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat.
  • Drain the shrimp and then toss with the oil and a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Wrap each shrimp with a slice of bacon. Thread 2 shrimp and 2 lime pieces on each skewer, alternating between the two.
  • Lightly oil the grill grates and grill until the bacon is crisp and shrimp are firm, flipping as needed, about 5 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality shrimp: Select large, fresh shrimp with a firm texture and no off-odor. U/10 shrimp are a good size for this recipe.
  • Make sure the bacon is thin: Thin bacon will cook evenly and wrap around the shrimp easily. If you only have thick bacon, you can slice it in half lengthwise.
  • Don't overcook the shrimp: Shrimp cooks quickly, so it's important to keep an eye on them to prevent them from becoming tough. Cook the shrimp until they are opaque and pink, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Use a variety of seasonings: Don't be afraid to experiment with different seasonings to flavor the shrimp. Some good options include garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  • Serve the shrimp with your favorite dipping sauce: Grilled bacon-wrapped shrimp is delicious served with a variety of dipping sauces, such as cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, or remoulade.

Conclusion:

Grilled bacon-wrapped shrimp is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. By following these tips, you can make sure that your shrimp are cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. So fire up your grill and get cooking!
