Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 c purchased barbecue sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
12 hamburger buns, lightly toasted
1 c cheddar cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • 1. Mix together ground beef, barbecue sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  • 2. Shape half of meat mixture into eight 1/2-inch-thick patties.
  • 3. Shape remaining meat mixture into four 1-inch-thick patties. (Can be made 8 hours ahead. Cover and chill.)
  • 4. Prepare grill (medium high heat).
  • 5. Grill patties to desired doneness, about 4 minutes per side for medium-rare for 1/2-inch thick patties and about 6 minutes per side for medium-rare 1-inch thick patties.
  • 6. Top with cheese the last minute of cooking.
  • 7. Place burgers on bottom halves of buns and top with lettuce and tomatoes and anything else that you like. Cover with top bun.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. This will make a big difference in the flavor of your burgers.
  • Don't overmix the meat. Overmixing can make the burgers tough.
  • Form the burgers gently. Don't pack them too tightly, or they will be dry.
  • Make a thumbprint in the center of each burger. This will help prevent the burgers from shrinking and puffing up.
  • Cook the burgers over medium-high heat. This will help create a nice crust on the outside while keeping the inside juicy.
  • Don't flip the burgers too often. Flipping them too often can make them dry.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.
  • Let the burgers rest before serving. This will help the juices redistribute and make the burgers more flavorful.

Conclusion:

Grilled cheddar burgers are a delicious and classic summertime meal. By following these tips, you can make the perfect grilled cheddar burger that your family and friends will love.
