Time 20m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 medium mackerel, filleted, skin on
5 garlic cloves, smashed
4 ounces butter
Salt
Pepper
1 or 2 limes

Steps:

  • Preheat an outdoor grill to medium heat and oil the grates with a brush or towel.
  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter and add the smashed garlic.
  • Make 3 deep cuts on each side of the fish. Season fillets generously with salt and pepper. Place flesh side-down and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Flip fish over and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from grill and brush with some of the garlic butter (about 2 tablespoons).
  • Squeeze 1/2 of a lime over each fillet and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Choose the freshest kingfish available. Look for fish that is firm to the touch and has clear, bright eyes.
  • Use a sharp knife to fillet the kingfish. This will help to prevent the fish from tearing.
  • Remove the skin from the kingfish if desired. This is a matter of personal preference.
  • Marinate the kingfish for at least 30 minutes before grilling. This will help to tenderize the fish and add flavor.
  • Grill the kingfish over medium heat. This will help to prevent the fish from sticking to the grill and will also help to evenly cook the fish.
  • Cook the kingfish until it is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. This will typically take about 10 minutes per side.
  • Serve the kingfish with your favorite sides. Some popular options include roasted vegetables, rice, or potatoes.

Conclusion:

Grilling kingfish is a great way to enjoy this delicious and healthy fish. By following these tips, you can grill kingfish that is perfectly cooked and full of flavor. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy-to-prepare seafood meal, give grilled kingfish a try.
