Tips:
- Choose ripe plantains that are yellow or black with a few brown spots. Avoid plantains that are green or have too many brown spots, as they will be less sweet and more difficult to peel.
- To peel a plantain, first, cut off the ends. Then, score the skin lengthwise and use your fingers to peel it off.
- If you are grilling the plantains whole, brush them with oil and season them with salt and pepper before grilling. You can also wrap the plantains in foil before grilling to help them cook more evenly.
- If you are slicing the plantains before grilling, brush them with oil and season them with salt and pepper. You can also add other spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
- Grill the plantains over medium heat until they are charred and tender. This will take about 10 minutes per side.
- Serve the plantains with your favorite toppings, such as cheese, bacon, sour cream, or salsa.
Conclusion:
Grilled plantains are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed in many different ways. Whether you grill them whole or sliced, they are sure to be a hit with your family and friends. So next time you are looking for a new side dish to try, give grilled plantains a try!
