Time 30m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

8 slices pumpernickel bread
1/4 cup mustard-mayonnaise blend
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
8 ounces thinly sliced cooked ham
1 medium tomatoes, sliced
8 ounces gouda cheese, sliced
3 tablespoons butter, softened

Steps:

  • Arrange the bread slices on a cutting board or counter top. Spread all slices with mustard-mayo sauce. Sprinkle 4 of the slices with the fresh chives; add ham, tomato and cheese.
  • Cover these four slices with the remaining bread slices, putting the sauce side down.
  • Using one of the tablespoons of butter, spread it over the tops of the sandwiches.

  • Turn the sandwiches over. Cook until toasted and the cheese is melted.

Tips:

  • Choose the right roast beef: Look for a cut that is well-marbled and has a good amount of fat. This will help keep the sandwich moist and flavorful.
  • Roast the beef to perfection: Cook the roast beef until it reaches an internal temperature of 135 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-rare, 145 degrees Fahrenheit for medium, or 155 degrees Fahrenheit for well-done.
  • Use a high-quality cheese: Smoked Gouda is a great choice for this sandwich, but you can also use other types of cheese, such as cheddar, Swiss, or Provolone.
  • Add your favorite toppings: Some popular toppings for this sandwich include lettuce, tomato, onion, and horseradish sauce.
  • Serve the sandwich on a sturdy bread: A baguette or ciabatta roll are both good choices.
