Tips:

  • Use high-quality Spam: Look for Spam with a bright pink color and a firm texture. Avoid Spam that is dull or has a slimy texture.
  • Slice the Spam thinly: This will help it cook evenly and quickly.
  • Use a well-oiled grill: This will help prevent the Spam from sticking.
  • Cook the Spam over medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side: This will give it a nice sear without overcooking it.
  • Use fresh pineapple: Fresh pineapple has a sweeter and more tropical flavor than canned pineapple.
  • Grill the pineapple for 2-3 minutes per side: This will caramelize the sugars in the pineapple and give it a smoky flavor.
  • Use a sturdy bread that can hold up to the Spam and pineapple: A good option is a thick-sliced Hawaiian bread.
  • Add your favorite toppings: Some popular options include cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion.
  • Serve the sandwich immediately: This is when the Spam and pineapple are at their best.
