GROWN-UP HOT CHOCOLATE

Grown-Up Hot Chocolate image

Warm, thick, and creamy, this hot chocolate is everything it should be. What makes this a little more "grown-up" is that it isn't overly sweet and has a touch of spice. The nutmeg and chipotle flavors are faint and just the right touch. Orange zest is the perfect complement to the other flavors. A special homemade hot chocolate.

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cup(s) milk
4 ounce(s) bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate
1 pinch(es) chipotle powder
1 pinch(es) nutmeg
- orange zest

Steps:

  • To prepare, combine milk and chocolate in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
  • Whisk constantly until the chocolate melts and the mixture comes to a simmer. Then whisk in chipotle powder and orange zest.
  • Pour into cups. Dust with nutmeg and serve.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality chocolate: The chocolate you use will make a big difference in the flavor of your hot chocolate. Look for a chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70%.
  • Use whole milk or cream: Whole milk or cream will give your hot chocolate a richer, creamier flavor. If you're using skim milk, you may want to add a little bit of butter or oil to help thicken it up.
  • Sweeten to taste: Some people like their hot chocolate very sweet, while others prefer it less sweet. Add sugar or another sweetener to taste.
  • Add a little spice: A little bit of spice can add a nice depth of flavor to your hot chocolate. Try adding a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom.
  • Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings: Whipped cream and chocolate shavings are a classic garnish for hot chocolate. They add a touch of sweetness and richness.

Conclusion:

With these tips, you can make a delicious grown-up hot chocolate that will warm you up from the inside out. So next time you're looking for a cozy and comforting drink, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed.
