1 cup swiss cheese, shredded
2 teaspoons basil leaves, finely chopped (or parsley)
honey mustard

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Place wax paper on a clean work surface and open pizza crust onto the paper.
  • Beginning at the center, roll dough out evenly in all directions to make a 14 x 12 inch rectangle.
  • Sprinkle dough with cheese and basil (or parsley).
  • Lay ham slices over cheese, end to end.
  • Roll up dough tightly, beginning at a long end.

  • Pinch ends together to seal.
  • Lay roll on foil-lined sheet, seam side down.
  • Bake 20 to 25 minutes until browned.
  • Cool 5 minutes and cut into 1/2 to 3/4 inch slices,.
  • Serve with honey mustard on the side.
  • Note: For a recipe variation, use smoked ham and substitute Jalapeno-Jack cheese instead of the Swiss and cilantro instead of the basil. Serve with salsa on the side.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients for the best results. Fresh, flavorful bread, cheese, and deli meats will make your pinwheels taste amazing.
  • Don't overstuff the pinwheels. If you put too much filling in, they will be difficult to roll and will fall apart easily.
  • Roll the pinwheels tightly. This will help to keep them together and prevent the filling from spilling out.
  • If you are having trouble rolling the pinwheels, you can chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling. This will make it easier to work with.
  • Bake the pinwheels until they are golden brown. This will give them a delicious, crispy crust.
  • Serve the pinwheels warm or at room temperature. They are also great for packing in lunches or taking to picnics.

Conclusion:

Ham and cheese pinwheels are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or simply enjoying at home. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a tasty treat that everyone will love. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy recipe, give ham and cheese pinwheels a try.
