Number Of Ingredients 8

2 packages Pepperidge Farms Party Rolls
3 cups country ham, finely ground or thinly sliced baked ham
2 cups Swiss cheese, finely grated
1 stick butter, softened
3 tablespoons yellow mustard
1/4 cup onion, finely grated
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Mix butter, poppy seeds, mustard, onion, Worcestershire sauce, and ham if it's grated. If not, omit for now. Split the rolls by removing them from the tray and slicing them in half. Do not separate the individual rolls. Put the bottom back in the tray. Spread mixture on both sides. If using slices of ham, place small pieces on top of butter mixture. Sprinkle with grated cheese, and put top layer of rolls back on top. Cover the entire tray with foil and wrap tightly. Bake at 350°F until cheese melts, about 20 minutes. Slice in-between the rolls with a serrated knife and serve warm.

HAM DELIGHTS

Categories     Sandwich     Pork     Bake     Quick & Easy

Yield 40 sandwiches

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 sticks butter, melted
2 T poppy seeds
6 T mustard
1 T dried onion flakes
2.5 lb. shaved ham
Use sugar cured (not salt cured) ham - people at the deli will understand the word shaved.
16 oz. Swiss cheese slices
48 Arnolds brand (24/pkg) soft rolls about the size of two bites, sliced but still connected in a pan or package. If you can't find Arnolds, any other similar white roll will do.

Steps:

  • Mix first four ingredients and cover the inside of the sliced rolls with a pastry brush. This is easy if you slice the entire package of rolls and lift off the tops and coat the top of the bottom of the roll with the mustard mixture. Spread the ham evenly over the rolls and top with cheese. Put the top of the rolls back in place - trying to keep them above their original bottom. Heat at 350 degrees until cheese has melted - about 15 min. Slice around each roll to form individual sandwiches. Don't underestimate how long it will take to cut the sandwiches once out of the oven (and they will be hot).

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 pkg 12 count hawaiian dinner rolls
1 lb or more of thin sliced sandwwich ham
10 slice swiss cheese, aged if you have it
1 stick butter, unsalted - melted & set aside
1 Tbsp fine grated onion
2 tsp mustard
2 tsp worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp poppy seeds, mixed in with butter/ mustard sauce
3 oz cream cheese, room temperature,

Steps:

  • 1. Separate rolls (top from bottom), place bottoms in a baking pan big enough to hold without crowding but fit firm. Set tops aside in single file. PREHEAT OVEN @ 350 F.
  • 2. Grate onion. Add to melted butter, mustard, worchestershire sauce, poppy seed, and cream cheese. Mix well.
  • 3. Brush bottoms of rolls with butter/mustard mixture. Place 1 slice of swiss cheese on top of the bottom section of rolls over the butter/mustard mixture ( I fold it and make it 2 slices). Top swiss cheese with 1-2 thin slices of sandwich ham ( I use 2 slices of thin ham folded to fit roll size). Place top of the rolls over top of ham slices.
  • 4. Generously brush tops of rolls with butter/mustard mixture. The cream cheese may not be melted, you can wisk it some or just brush with pastry bush after it is on top of rolls. It's ok if a little is left over but cover well.
  • 5. Cover rolls with foil and bake in preheated, 350 oven 12-15 minutes. Remove foil, place back in oven and continue to bake about 8 minutes, until rolls are brown enough to be crunchy. The poppy seeds in the mustard sauce will be crunchy too. The rolls will brown a deep brown color which is good, do not burn. Remove from oven, cool a few minutes (5 minutes giving the melted cheese time to settle down). Serve whole or cut into halves, I serve whole.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ham: A good ham should be fully cooked and have a mild, smoky flavor. Bone-in hams are more flavorful than boneless hams, but they are also more difficult to carve.
  • Glaze the ham: A glaze will help to keep the ham moist and add flavor. You can use a store-bought glaze or make your own. Some popular glaze ingredients include brown sugar, honey, mustard, and pineapple juice.
  • Bake the ham at a low temperature: This will help to prevent the ham from drying out. The ideal internal temperature for a ham is 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the ham rest before carving: This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the ham, making it more tender and flavorful.
  • Serve the ham with your favorite sides: Some popular sides for ham include mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls.

Conclusion:

Ham is a versatile and delicious meat that can be enjoyed in many different ways. Whether you are hosting a holiday dinner or just looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal, ham is a great option. With a little planning and preparation, you can easily create a ham dinner that your family and friends will love.
