Ham & Noodle Stove Top Casserole, Pennsylvania Dutch Style image

This was a casserole that my Mom used to make, but I had lost her recipe...I recently found one really similar to hers on the Campbell's website, so I added what I knew she added, thereby "tweaking" it to my own taste. Very easy, and very tasty! True comfort food...

Tips:

  • Prep Ingredients: Before starting, measure and chop all ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
  • Quality Ingredients: Use high-quality ingredients, especially the ham, noodles, and cheese, for the best flavor.
  • Seasoning: Adjust the amount of salt and pepper according to your taste preferences. You can also add other herbs and spices, such as garlic powder or onion powder, for extra flavor.
  • Don't Overcook Noodles: Cook the noodles according to the package instructions, but be careful not to overcook them. Overcooked noodles will become mushy and ruin the texture of the casserole.
  • Use a Large Pot: Choose a large pot that can accommodate all the ingredients comfortably. This will prevent overcrowding and ensure even cooking.
  • Don't Boil Milk: When adding the milk, heat it until it is just simmering. Boiling the milk can cause it to curdle and ruin the texture of the casserole.
  • Stir Mixture Regularly: As the casserole cooks, stir the mixture occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot and to ensure even cooking.
  • Add Cheese Gradually: Add the cheese gradually, stirring constantly, to ensure that it melts evenly and smoothly.
  • Serve Immediately: Once the casserole is cooked, serve it immediately while it is hot and bubbly. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
