This is my modification of the Cheeseburger bake on the Jiffy mix box. It's an easy, tasty meal that is a big hit with my family and friends.

2 cups biscuit mix (I use Jiffy)
2/3 cup water
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 envelope onion soup mix
sliced mushrooms (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine biscuit mix and water into dough.
  • Spread in the bottom of a 9X13 pan sprayed with cooking spray (make sure to press the edges up like a pizza crust) Brown and drain the ground beef.
  • Chop onion and fry in hamburger pan until clear.
  • Mix cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, onion and ground beef and spread over unbaked crust Top with sliced mushrooms (or shredded cheese or any special seasonings your family likes.) Bake for 15-17 minutes, or unil raised edges of crust are golden brown.

1 pound lean ground beef
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup, divided
4 (4 ounce) cans sliced mushrooms, drained
1 cup milk, divided
½ teaspoon seasoned salt
ground black pepper to taste
4 cups peeled and thinly sliced potatoes
½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
¾ cup French-fried onions

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 7x11-inch baking pan.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease.
  • Mix 1 can cream of mushroom soup, mushrooms, 3/4 cup milk, seasoned salt, and black pepper in a bowl; fold in potatoes.
  • Spread half the potato mixture into the prepared baking pan; top with Cheddar cheese. Spoon 1/2 the ground beef over cheese layer. Top ground beef layer with remaining potato mixture; layer with remaining ground beef.
  • Mix remaining 1 can cream of mushroom soup with 1/4 cup milk; pour mixture over ground beef layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until casserole is bubbling, about 1 hour 20 minutes. Sprinkle French-fried onions over casserole; return to oven for 5 more minutes.

This recipe was passed to me by my sister back in the mid 60's and have been making it ever since as have my children and now my older grandchildren. Needless to say it is a long time family favorite. We like these served this with either rice or egg noodles along with the gravy that is created in the pan during baking. ENJOY..!! :)

1 (10 1/2 ounce) can condensed golden mushroom soup
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/3 cup water

Steps:

  • Combine 1/4 cup soup with remaining ingredients; except water and mix thoroughly.
  • Shape into 6 patties.
  • Place in 12x8x2 inch shallow baking dish.
  • BAKE: 350ºF for 30 minutes.
  • Spoon off fat.
  • Combine remaining soup and water; pour over meat.

Hot cooked mashed potatoes
