HAMBURGER POT PIE
This is a pure and simple comfort food without any pretense. When the sports seasons took over, my mum had to resort to easy calories to get our large family through each night. This one wins with kids of all ages, and is ultimately a decent base recipe for comfort food experimentation.

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 350. Brown beef with chopped onion. Drain grease and add the chicken cube, pepper and thyme. Let that incorporate into the beef. You won't need salt with this because of the soups.
- 2. Mix in your two cans of soup and softened cream cheese. Once warmed through add your veggies and heat through well. My veggies consist of peas, carrots, corn and green beans.
- 3. Spray a 9 X 13 casserole dish with non stick spray and dump your meat mixture into it.
- 4. Unfold your pastry sheet on a flat, dry surface. I use a pizza cutter to cut my dough. Here you can get creative. I just cut strips and do a braided lattice on top of my meat mixture. That's it y'all. Pop it in the oven until the pastry is golden. Maybe about 10-15 minutes. Enjoy!!
Tips:
- Prep Your Ingredients: Before starting, ensure all your ingredients are prepped and measured. This makes the cooking process smoother and more efficient.
- Use Quality Ground Beef: Opt for high-quality ground beef with a lean-to-fat ratio of 80/20 or 85/15 for the perfect texture and flavor.
- Season with Care: Don't be shy with the seasonings! A blend of salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, and paprika adds depth and flavor to your hamburger filling.
- Cook the Beef Properly: Cook the ground beef thoroughly until it's no longer pink in the center. This ensures it's safe to eat and adds a delicious browned flavor.
- Make a Thick and Creamy Sauce: Use a combination of flour, milk, and beef broth to create a rich and flavorful sauce. Simmer it gently until it thickens, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Choose Your Vegetables Wisely: Include a variety of vegetables in your pot pie filling for added nutrition and flavor. Frozen or fresh vegetables work well, so use what you have on hand.
- Don't Overcrowd the Pan: When transferring the filling to the baking dish, avoid overcrowding it. This ensures the filling cooks evenly and prevents it from becoming soggy.
- Top with a Flaky Crust: Use a pre-made pie crust or make your own from scratch. Brush the crust with an egg wash before baking to achieve a golden-brown, flaky crust.
- Bake until Bubbling: Bake the hamburger pot pie until the filling is bubbling and the crust is golden brown. This usually takes around 30-40 minutes in a 375°F (190°C) oven.

Hamburger pot pie is a classic comfort food that's easy to make and loved by people of all ages.
