Tips:

  • Pork: Use boneless and skinless pork steaks or pork chops for this recipe. Pork shoulder or pork tenderloin can also be used, but adjust the cooking time accordingly.
  • Tenderize: To make the pork extra tender, use a meat mallet to pound it before cooking. This helps break down the tough fibers and makes the meat more juicy.
  • Marinade: Marinating the pork in a mixture of soy sauce, brown sugar, pineapple juice, and garlic for at least 30 minutes before cooking adds flavor and moisture to the meat.
  • Slow Cooker: Cook the pork steaks or chops in a slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. This ensures the meat is cooked evenly and fall-apart tender.
  • Sauce: The combination of soy sauce, brown sugar, pineapple juice, and garlic creates a delicious sauce for the pork. You can also add other ingredients like ginger, chili flakes, or honey to taste.
  • Serve: Serve the Hawaiian pork steaks with steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or a side salad. You can also add a dollop of sour cream or yogurt for extra richness.
