Tips:
- For a smoother texture, use a food processor or blender to puree the sweet potatoes. You can also mash them with a potato masher, but be sure to remove any lumps.
- Be sure to use fresh nutmeg. Pre-ground nutmeg loses its flavor quickly, so it's best to grate it yourself.
- If you don't have a kitchen torch, you can brown the top of the casserole under the broiler. Just watch it closely so that it doesn't burn.
- If you are making the casserole ahead of time, cover it tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 3 days. When you're ready to serve, reheat the casserole in a preheated 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 30 minutes, or until heated through.
Conclusion:
This heavenly sweet potato casserole is the perfect side dish for any holiday meal. It's creamy, flavorful, and has just the right amount of sweetness. With its crunchy pecan topping and brûléed marshmallow topping, this dish is sure to impress your guests. So next time you're looking for a sweet and savory side dish, give this heavenly sweet potato casserole a try.
