HERBED GOAT CHEESE SPREAD (FROM KEEBLER)

Herbed Goat Cheese Spread (From Keebler) image

I found this in a Keebler coupon/recipe pamphlet at our local Weis grocery store. I wanted to post it for safe keeping and to consider making for our New Years Eve party. CHILL TIME IS LISTED AS THE COOK TIME.

Categories     Spreads

Time 1h5m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

8 ounces goat cheese
1/4 cup light plain yogurt
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons green onions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
1/4 teaspoon black pepper, coarsely ground
1 garlic clove, peeled and quartered
fresh thyme (for garnish)
cracker, for serving (they suggest Keebler Town House Flatbread Crisps Sea Salt & Olive Oil or Italian Herb)

Steps:

  • In food processor bowl, combine goat cheese, yogurt, olive oil, green onion, thyme, pepper and garlic.
  • Cover and process until smooth.
  • Transfer to serving bowl; cover and refrigerate at least one hour to blend flavors.
  • Garnish with fresh thyme before serving. Serve with crackers.

Tips:

  • Use fresh herbs: Fresh herbs, such as chives, parsley, thyme, and dill, add a bright, vibrant flavor to the goat cheese spread. If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs, but be sure to use half the amount called for in the recipe since they are more concentrated.
  • Let the goat cheese come to room temperature before using: This will help it to spread more easily and evenly. You can also microwave the goat cheese for a few seconds to soften it up.
  • Don't over-mix the spread: Over-mixing will make the spread too thick and dense. Stir just until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Taste the spread and adjust the seasonings as needed: You may want to add more salt, pepper, or lemon juice to taste. You can also add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little heat.
  • Serve the spread with your favorite crackers, bread, or vegetables: The spread is also great as a dip for fruit, such as apples or pears.

Conclusion:

Herbed goat cheese spread is a delicious, versatile appetizer or snack that can be made in just a few minutes. With its creamy texture and tangy flavor, it's sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering.

The best part about this spread is that it's so easy to customize. You can use any type of herbs or spices that you like, and you can adjust the amount of garlic and lemon juice to taste. You can also add other ingredients, such as chopped nuts, dried fruit, or crumbled bacon, to create a unique spread that's perfect for your taste.
