I was surprised this recipe wasn't already on 'Zaar - a favorite of ours during cold weather and very easy to make. My son often makes this dinner for his friends.

HOBO BURGERS

I got this recipe from Paula Deen's show. It is so easy and good. Great for cookouts and camping. I spray the foil first so it doesn't stick and if I cook on the grill I will wrap a piece of cabbage on outside of each foil to keep from burning.

PAULA DEEN'S BO BURGER

Paula Deen's Bo Burger image

These burgers take a little more time than regular ones, but they are so worth it! I saw Paula Deen make this on TV and they just made my mouth water...and I'm not really that fond of hamburgers. ;-) But these are so juicy and wonderful...I hope you enjoy! Note: These took a little longer to make than the suggested 8-10 minutes per side, but I used 2 lbs of beef for really BIG burgers and I also used my electric skillet, so maybe that made a difference too.

1 1/2 lbs 80% lean ground beef
salt
pepper

4 eggs
4 hamburger buns
4 slices American cheese

Steps:

  • Add the burgers and cook to desired temperature, about 8-10 minutes per side for medium-well.

Tips:

  • Prepare the Ingredients: Before starting, measure and chop all the ingredients. This will help you stay organized and ensure that you have everything you need on hand.
  • Use Fresh Ground Beef: Fresh ground beef is the best choice for hobo burgers. It will give you the most flavorful and juicy burgers.
  • Season the Beef Generously: Don't be shy with the seasonings! A good blend of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder will give your burgers great flavor.
  • Don't Overwork the Beef: When forming the beef patties, be gentle and don't overwork the meat. This will help to keep the burgers tender and juicy.
  • Cook the Burgers Over Medium Heat: Cooking the burgers over medium heat will help to prevent them from burning on the outside while remaining raw on the inside.
  • Use a Meat Thermometer: The best way to ensure that your burgers are cooked to perfection is to use a meat thermometer. Cook the burgers until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for medium-rare or 165°F (74°C) for medium.
  • Top the Burgers with Your Favorite Toppings: Once the burgers are cooked, top them with your favorite toppings. Some popular options include cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.
