Categories     Pineapple

Time 10m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (20 ounce) can chunk pineapple in juice or 1 (20 ounce) can syrup
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin orange segments
1 1/2 cups seedless grapes
1 cup miniature marshmallow
1 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup nuts
3/4 cup sour cream or 3/4 cup vanilla yogurt
1 tablespoon sugar

  • Drain pineapple.
  • Drain oranges.
  • Combine pineapple, oranges, grapes, marshmallows, coconut, and nuts.
  • Mix sour cream and sugar.
  • Stir into fruit mixture.
  • Chill well and serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh fruit. Fresh fruit will give your ambrosia salad the best flavor and texture. If you can't find fresh fruit, you can use frozen or canned fruit, but the flavor and texture will not be as good.
  • Choose a variety of fruits. The more variety of fruits you use, the more flavorful your ambrosia salad will be. Some good choices include oranges, pineapple, grapes, strawberries, bananas, and apples.
  • Cut the fruit into bite-sized pieces. This will make it easier to eat and will help the flavors to blend together.
  • Add some nuts or coconut. Nuts and coconut will add a nice crunch and texture to your ambrosia salad. Some good choices include chopped walnuts, almonds, pecans, or shredded coconut.
  • Use a light dressing. A light dressing will help to enhance the flavors of the fruit without overpowering them. Some good choices include a simple syrup made with sugar and water, or a mixture of mayonnaise and sour cream.
  • Chill the salad before serving. Chilling the salad will help to set the dressing and will make the flavors even more refreshing.

Conclusion:

Ambrosia salad is a classic dish that is perfect for potlucks, picnics, and other gatherings. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With a few simple tips, you can make an ambrosia salad that is sure to impress your friends and family.
