Tips:

  • For tender beef stew, choose chuck roast, brisket, or short ribs. These cuts have more connective tissue that breaks down during cooking, resulting in fall-apart tender meat.
  • Sear the beef before stewing to develop flavor and caramelize the meat.
  • Use a variety of vegetables in your stew, such as carrots, celery, onions, potatoes, and peas. This will add flavor, color, and texture to the dish.
  • Season the stew well with salt, pepper, and other herbs and spices. Bay leaves, thyme, and rosemary are all good choices.
  • Simmer the stew for at least 1-2 hours, or until the meat is fall-apart tender and the vegetables are cooked through.
  • Serve the stew with crusty bread, mashed potatoes, or rice.
