Sprinkle in the baking soda and mix. Pour onto the prepared baking sheet and tip the baking sheet to spread the toffee evenly. Let it cool and set, about 6 minutes.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the toffee. Scatter the toasted nuts and seeds, raisins and mini chocolate candy over the melted chocolate and sprinkle with the sea salt. Let set for 2 hours, then break the toffee into shards.
QUICK PASTY PIE
This is my much quickened version of a pasty, put into pie form. For those who are unfamiliar with pasties, they are a pastry filled with meat, potatoes and onions, then folded into a half-circle. I live in an old mining town and these are still popular from the old days when the men would take them in their lunch boxes.

HOME TOWN DRIVE-IN PASTA SALAD
A small drive-in dairy bar in our town which has been closed for some time used to make this...my kids missed it. I remembered they had the ingredients posted to a board in the drive-in for some reason, so I worked on trying to get it the way they prepared it. It's finally right and I thought I would share it. We like this at room temperature, but it certainly can be refrigerated.

Tips:
- Use good quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will make a big difference in the taste of your pasties.
- Season your meat well: The meat is the main flavor component of pasties, so make sure to season it well with salt, pepper, and other spices.
- Don't overcook the meat: Overcooked meat will be tough and dry. Cook the meat until it is just cooked through, but still slightly pink in the center.
- Use a good quality pastry: The pastry is the other key component of pasties, so make sure to use a good quality pastry that is light and flaky.
- Crimp the pasties well: Crimping the pasties well will help to keep the filling inside and prevent the pasties from bursting open during baking.
- Bake the pasties until they are golden brown: The pasties should be baked until they are golden brown and the pastry is cooked through.
