Number Of Ingredients 6

1 liter boiled water, 4 cups
4 black tea bags, e.g. Earl Grey
2 sprigs mint
1 tablespoon ginger, grated
1 lemon, juice and zest (divided)
4 tablespoon honey, or to taste

Steps:

  • Boil 1 liter of water and pour into a heat resistant mug, add in 4 bags of black tea.
  • Add in the zest* of one lemon, grate a knob of ginger and add two sprigs of mint. Muddle it a bit to release the juices. If you don't want such a strong ginger flavor, just don't grate it and slice it instead.
  • When lukewarm - add in honey and juice of one lemon. Remove the tea bags. Stir and give it a taste. Adjust amount of honey to your own liking.**
  • Run the iced tea through a sift to remove all zest and ginger pieces. Set in the refrigerator until it's cold. Serve with lemon slices, mint sprigs and ice cubes.

MINT-GINGER ICED TEA

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Drink Recipes

Yield Makes about 8 cups

Number Of Ingredients 6

6 ounces fresh ginger, peeled and smashed with a meat mallet
4 bags mint tea
8 cups boiling water
2 tablespoons honey
Ice
Mint sprigs

Steps:

  • In a large pot, combine ginger, mint tea, and boiling water. Let steep 8 minutes. Pour through a fine-mesh sieve into a large container; discard solids. Stir in honey. Let cool to room temperature, about 2 hours. Serve over ice with mint sprigs.

Nutrition Facts : Calories 33 g

Tips:

  • Choose the right lemons. Meyer lemons are sweeter and less acidic than regular lemons, making them a good choice for this tea. If you're using regular lemons, you may want to add a little extra sugar or honey to taste.
  • Use fresh ginger. Fresh ginger has a more pungent flavor than ground ginger, and it will give your tea a more pronounced ginger flavor.
  • Don't boil the tea. Boiling the tea will make it bitter. Instead, bring the water to a simmer and then remove it from the heat.
  • Let the tea steep for at least 10 minutes. This will give the flavors time to meld together.
  • Serve the tea hot or cold. Iced lemon ginger mint tea is a refreshing drink on a hot day, but it can also be enjoyed warm on a cold day.

Conclusion:

Iced lemon ginger mint tea is a delicious and refreshing drink that is perfect for any occasion. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So next time you're looking for a healthy and flavorful drink, give iced lemon ginger mint tea a try.
