ICED TEA SYRUP

Categories     Non-Alcoholic Drinks

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 qt water
1/4 lb tea (loose)
3 lb sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Bring water to a rolling boil.
  • 2. Add tea & remove from heat. Cover with lid & steep for 10 minutes (or until all the good is out of the tea)
  • 3. Strain & add sugar while tea is still hot.
  • 4. Cool, pour into glass jar with tight fitting lid. Store in refrigerator.
  • 5. Note: This recipe can be doubled using 5 lbs of sugar.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality tea leaves or tea bags for the best flavor and aroma. Different types of tea, such as black, green, or herbal, can be used to make iced tea syrup.
  • Use filtered or spring water for making the tea. Tap water can contain minerals that can alter the taste of the iced tea syrup.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar or sweetener to your liking. You can also use a combination of sugar and a non-caloric sweetener, such as stevia, to reduce the sugar content.
  • Let the iced tea syrup cool completely before using it. This will help to prevent the syrup from crystallizing.
  • Store the iced tea syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. You can also freeze the syrup for up to 6 months.
  • When ready to use, dilute the iced tea syrup with water, club soda, or lemonade to taste.

Conclusion:

Making iced tea syrup at home is a convenient and cost-effective way to enjoy delicious iced tea whenever you want. With just a few simple steps and ingredients, you can create a variety of flavored syrups that can be used to make refreshing iced tea, cocktails, mocktails, and even desserts. Experiment with different types of tea and flavorings to find your favorite combinations.
