MUSHROOM ON ITALIAN BREAD - APPETIZER

Mushroom on Italian Bread - Appetizer image

This is a great little appetizer to make - definitely goes down a treat. Given that it depends on how many you are making I am putting down very vague measurements (in truth I dont measure, but make as I go as its easier), so please dont take any notice of the measurements. Basically what you are after is a creamy mushroom topping for the bread, not too runny and not too thick.

ITALIAN STUFFED MUSHROOMS

Mom would make these for special occasions and holidays. They taste good hot or at room temperature. She would make about 100 of these at a time and never measured the ingredients, so what I have here is just approximate amounts. I've given the amounts for about 36 mushrooms here.

Tips:

  • Use fresh mushrooms. Fresh mushrooms will give your bread the best flavor and texture. If you can't find fresh mushrooms, you can use dried mushrooms, but be sure to soak them in hot water for at least 30 minutes before using.
  • Sauté the mushrooms before adding them to the bread. This will help to bring out their flavor and make them less watery.
  • Use a variety of mushrooms. This will give your bread a more complex flavor. Some good options include cremini mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and oyster mushrooms.
  • Don't overfill the bread. If you do, the bread will be difficult to close and the filling will spill out.
  • Bake the bread until it is golden brown. This will ensure that the bread is cooked through and the filling is heated.

Conclusion:

Italian bread filled with mushrooms is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. It is perfect for parties or potlucks. With its crispy crust and savory filling, this bread is sure to be a hit. So next time you are looking for a new recipe to try, give this one a try. You won't be disappointed.
