The Best Ever Slow Cooker Pot Roast Recipe by Tasty image

This slow cooker pot roast only takes six ingredients to make thanks to a packet of onion soup mix. It gives the roast a ton of flavor without a ton of work, and no one will even know it's there. The best part? You just dump everything into the slow cooker, walk away for a few hours, and dinner practically cooks itself. Serve it over egg noodles or rice and dinner is good to go.

Number Of Ingredients 8

- 2-3 pound chuck roast
- 1 package onion soup mix
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 onion, chopped (i use two and slice them in chunks)
- 1 pint canned carrots (i use fresh baby carrots cooked, i dont like canned)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 6 ounces coke - no diet stuff here and i never use anything but real coke
- 1/4 cup jack daniels

Steps:

  • Add water and 1 Tablespoon of onion soup mix to slow cooker
  • Place half of the onions in, add garlic.
  • Salt and pepper all sides of the roast and place in slow cooker (I usually sear the meat on the stove prior to adding to slow cooker, it adds color and seals in the flavor and juices)
  • Add carrots and the rest of the onions
  • Pour remaining onion soup mix over roast
  • Add Coke and Jack Daniels
  • Cover and cook on low 7-8 hours
  • Remove carrots and roast from crockpot
  • Make gravy from the juices and serve with mashed potatoes

Tips

  • Choosing the right cut of beef is essential for a tender and flavorful pot roast. Look for a chuck roast, rump roast, or brisket.
  • Browning the beef before cooking it in the slow cooker helps to develop flavor and color.
  • Use a variety of vegetables in your pot roast for a more flavorful and nutritious dish.
  • Season the pot roast generously with salt and pepper, and add other spices and herbs as desired.
  • Cook the pot roast on low heat for 8-10 hours, or on high heat for 4-6 hours, or until the beef is tender and fall-apart.
  • Serve the pot roast with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles, and a side of vegetables.

Conclusion

Jack Daniel's slow cooker pot roast is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight or a special occasion. The beef is tender and fall-apart, and the vegetables are flavorful and perfectly cooked. The Jack Daniel's sauce adds a unique and delicious flavor to the dish.
