Tips:

  • Start with fresh cranberries. Fresh cranberries are more flavorful and have a firmer texture than frozen or canned cranberries. If you can't find fresh cranberries, you can use frozen cranberries, but thaw them completely before using.
  • Use a food processor. A food processor makes it easy to chop the cranberries and walnuts. If you don't have a food processor, you can chop the cranberries and walnuts by hand, but it will take longer.
  • Don't overcook the sugar mixture. The sugar mixture should be cooked until it reaches the soft-ball stage, which is 235 degrees Fahrenheit. If you overcook the sugar mixture, it will become too hard and brittle.
  • Be careful when dipping the cranberries in the sugar mixture. The sugar mixture is very hot, so be careful not to burn yourself. Use a spoon or tongs to dip the cranberries in the sugar mixture.
  • Let the candies cool completely. The candies need to cool completely before you can store them. If you store the candies before they have cooled completely, they will stick together.

Conclusion:

Jellied cranberry nut candy is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for the holidays. It is a great way to use up fresh cranberries, and it is also a fun activity to do with kids. The candies can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container for up to two weeks. Enjoy!
