DIET GREEN TEA LEMON JELLO

Diet Green Tea Lemon Jello image

I'm dieting, ugh, and for a treat I've been having Sugar Free Jello. After reading about green tea and how it is supposed to boost your metabolism I thought I'd try to incorporate tea into my diet. Who knows if it works? This is one tasty idea I've had. If you like strong tea then steep the bag longer or use 2 tea bags. I also divvy it into serving sizes using custard cups, but any small vessel will do, I've used coffee cups, too. Cook time is chill time.

Yield 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 tablespoons boiling water
2 teaspoons gelatin powder
400 ml low-fat milk
2 chai tea teabags
2 teaspoons sugar (or granulated sugar substitute)
40 g raspberries (1/3 cup fresh or defrosted frozen)
1 tablespoon mint (small leaves)

  • Put water in a small heatproof bowl and sprinkle the gelatine powder over and stir until dissolved and set aside.
  • Put milk in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over a medium heat.
  • Remove pan from the heat and add tea bags and jiggle and cover and set aside for 5 minutes to steep and then remove tea bags.
  • Add gelatine mixture to milk mixture and stir until combines and then pour into dishes and put in the fridge for 4 hours or until set.

Tips:

  • Use good quality tea: The type of tea you use will have a big impact on the flavor of your Jello tea. Choose a tea that you enjoy drinking on its own.
  • Brew your tea strong: For the best flavor, brew your tea strong. You can do this by using more tea leaves or steeping the tea for a longer period of time.
  • Use fresh fruit: Fresh fruit will give your Jello tea the best flavor. If you can't find fresh fruit, you can use frozen fruit, but thaw it completely before using.
  • Sweeten to taste: Jello tea can be sweetened to taste. You can use sugar, honey, or another sweetener of your choice.
  • Chill before serving: Jello tea is best served chilled. You can chill it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or you can freeze it for a slushy consistency.
