Tips:
- Use fresh green beans. Fresh green beans have a crisp texture and a sweet flavor. If you can't find fresh green beans, you can use frozen green beans. Just be sure to thaw them before cooking.
- Don't overcook the green beans. Green beans should be cooked until they are tender-crisp. If you overcook them, they will become mushy.
- Use a good quality cream of mushroom soup. The cream of mushroom soup is the base of the casserole, so it's important to use a good quality soup. Look for a soup that is made with real mushrooms and has a rich, creamy flavor.
- Add some extra vegetables. You can add other vegetables to the casserole, such as chopped carrots, celery, or onion. This will add extra flavor and nutrients to the dish.
- Top the casserole with crispy fried onions. Fried onions add a delicious crunch to the casserole. You can buy them pre-made or make your own.
Conclusion:
Green bean casserole is a classic holiday dish that is always a hit. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. Whether you like it traditional or with a few extra vegetables, this casserole is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
