Categories     Breakfast

Time 25m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups milk
1/3 cup applesauce
1 cup whipped cream (or Cool Whip)
1 cup canned peaches in light syrup

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
  • In a smaller bowl, combine egg yolks and milk and beat well. Stir into dry ingredients. Add the applesauce and stir well.
  • Beat the egg whites until stiff. Carefully fold into batter (don't overmix).
  • Pour about 2/3 cup batter onto a preheated waffle iron. Close and bake about 3 minutes. These waffles are fairly soft, so if you like them crisper cook about 1 minute more.
  • Serve topped with a dollop of whipped cream and a couple of peach slices.

Tips:

  • Use fresh apples: Fresh apples provide the best flavor and texture for apple waffles.
  • Peel and core the apples: This will help to ensure that the waffles are evenly cooked.
  • Grate the apples: Grating the apples will help them to distribute evenly throughout the batter.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can result in tough waffles.
  • Cook the waffles on a hot waffle iron: This will help to ensure that the waffles are cooked evenly and golden brown.
  • Serve the waffles immediately: Waffles are best served immediately after they are cooked.

Conclusion:

Apple waffles are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch recipe. They are perfect for a weekend morning or a special occasion. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy.
