KID-FRIENDLY SNACK MIX

I was shocked that all the snack mixes I found on here either had candy or nuts. My kids don't get sweets that often, and my youngest can't chew nuts yet. So, I threw this easy snack mix together and wanted to share it.

Time 3m

Yield 6 cups, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cups toasted oat cereal (I used plain Cheerios and Multi-Grain Cheerios)
1 cup Trix cereal (any fruit-flavored cereal would work)
1 cup goldfish crackers (I used the original cheddar cheese flavor)
1 cup Teddy Grahams cinnamon graham snacks (any type of graham cracker snack would work)
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon sugar

Steps:

  • Pour all ingredients into large zipper freezer bag and shake well.
  • Serve in little zipper baggies for on the go or anywhere.

KIDDOS FAVORITE TRAIL MIX

Easy, nutritious, keeps for a long time (in a sealed container), easily "tweaked" to fit your personal tastes. A REAL kid-pleaser. Great for bringing snack on your child's turn at preschool/daycare. Although it may be wise to omit the ingredients containing peanuts (when considering a choice for nuts and regarding the peanut butter chips) as the allergy to peanuts is increasingly common and potentially life-threatening. Also great for a cooking activity with small children...wash their hands and let them throw handfulls of the ingredients together.

Time 5m

Yield 15-20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup Cheerios toasted oat cereal (honey nut, plain and apple cinnamon work equally as well)
1 cup goldfish crackers or 1 cup other cheese crackers
1 cup cherry-flavored dried cranberries (or other favorite dried fruit)
1 cup cashews or 1 cup other favorite nuts (although be aware of children's potential allergy to peanuts)
1 cup miniature M&M's chocolate candies (or other chocolate candy)
1 cup peanut butter chips or 1 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup miniature pretzel twists or 1 cup pretzel stick

Steps:

  • Throw everything together in a sealed container.
  • Store in cool, dry area (to prevent melting of chocolate candies/chips and other soft ingredients).

Tips:

- For a sweeter snack mix, add dried fruits like raisins, cranberries, or cherries. - For a more savory snack mix, add nuts like almonds, walnuts, or pecans. - Add a little spice to your snack mix with chili powder, paprika, or cayenne pepper. - Drizzle your snack mix with melted chocolate or caramel for a decadent treat. - Make your snack mix ahead of time and store it in an airtight container for easy snacking. - Get creative with your snack mix by adding your favorite ingredients. - Use a variety of colors and textures to make your snack mix more visually appealing. - Package your snack mix in individual bags for easy on-the-go snacks. - Make a big batch of snack mix and share it with friends and family.
