TUNA AND VEGETABLE CASSEROLE

Tuna and Vegetable Casserole image

In an attempt to eat healthier, my husband and I have been eating more vegetables and less meats. As a result, I have become more creative coming up with dinner meals. This casserole was delicious, used fresh vegetables I had on hand, and went together very quickly. I topped the casserole with French fried onions. Another option would be more grated cheese or crushed potato chips.

Tips:

  • Choose the right tuna. Canned tuna comes in a variety of forms, including solid white tuna, chunk light tuna, and albacore tuna. For this recipe, solid white tuna is the best choice because it has a firm texture and mild flavor.
  • Drain the tuna well. Before adding the tuna to the casserole, be sure to drain it well. This will help to prevent the casserole from becoming watery.
  • Use a variety of vegetables. This recipe calls for frozen peas, carrots, and corn, but you can use any vegetables that you like. Some other good options include broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans.
  • Make it cheesy. Cheese is a great way to add flavor and richness to tuna casserole. You can use any type of cheese that you like, but cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, and Swiss cheese are all good choices.
  • Don't overcook the casserole. Tuna casserole is best when it is cooked just until the mixture is heated through and the cheese is melted. Overcooking the casserole will make it dry and tough.

Conclusion:

Tuna casserole is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and loved by kids and adults alike. With its creamy sauce, tender tuna, and cheesy topping, this casserole is sure to be a hit at your next family dinner. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give tuna casserole a try!
