Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 qt popped corn
1 1/2 c pecans, in pieces
2/3 c almonds, slivered
1 1/2 c sugar
1 c margerine
1/2 c karo syrup
1 tsp vanilla

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the popcorn and nuts. Place in a large bowl that has been buttered (to prevent sticking).
  • 2. Mix sugar, margarine and Karo syrup in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil for 6 to 10 minutes until it reaches soft ball stage on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  • 3. Pour syrup over popcorn mixture and stir well to coat evenly. Spread on a cookie sheet to cool and then break up into bite sized pieces.

Tips:

  • Prep ahead: Save time by prepping ingredients in advance. Chop veggies, marinate meats, and measure out spices before you start cooking.
  • Use fresh ingredients: Whenever possible, use fresh ingredients for the best flavor and texture. Fresh herbs, vegetables, and fruits make a big difference.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When cooking meat or vegetables, don't overcrowd the pan or they won't cook evenly. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • Season your food: Don't be afraid to season your food with salt, pepper, and other spices. Taste as you go and adjust seasonings as needed.
  • Use a variety of cooking methods: Don't just stick to one cooking method. Try grilling, roasting, baking, and sautéing to add variety to your meals.
  • Garnish your dishes: A simple garnish can make a big difference in the presentation of your dishes. Try adding a sprig of fresh herbs, a dollop of sour cream, or a sprinkle of grated cheese.
