Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Red potatoes are the best choice for this casserole because they hold their shape well and have a creamy texture. Avoid using russet potatoes, as they tend to become dry and crumbly.
  • Don't overcook the potatoes: The potatoes should be cooked until they are tender but still firm. If you overcook them, they will become mushy.
  • Use a good quality cheese: The cheese is one of the most important ingredients in this casserole, so it's important to use a good quality cheese that melts well. Cheddar cheese is a classic choice, but you can also use other types of cheese, such as mozzarella, Parmesan, or Gruyère.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment: There are many ways to customize this casserole to your liking. You can add different vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, or corn. You can also add different spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
  • Make sure the casserole is cooked through: The casserole is cooked through when the top is golden brown and the center is bubbly.
