1 lb turkey sausage
1 small white onion (Finely Diced)
1 pinch kosher salt
1/4 cup sliced mushrooms
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 3/4 cups spaghetti sauce
3 cups whole wheat pasta (Uncooked)
2 pinches kosher salt
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon dried parsley

Steps:

  • Start your noodle water boiling and add 2 pinches of Kosher Salt.
  • When the water starts to boil, add the noodles and cook according to the manufacturer's direction.
  • Brown the Turkey, White Onion, a pinch of Kosher Salt, Sliced Mushrooms, 1 teaspoon Dried Basil, and 1 teaspoon Dried Parsley on a medium heat.
  • Drain any grease that may have cooked out.
  • Add the Spaghetti Sauce and turn to the heat to the lowest setting. Stir occasional while the noodle are cooking.
  • When the noodles are done, drain them and toss with Olive Oil and remaining Dried Parsley.
  • Dish out the cooked noodle and place the sauce on top.
  • Optional - Top sauce with a sprinkle of Parmesan Cheese or 1 1/2 tablespoons of Low Fat Small Curb Cottage Cheese.

This is a very tasty spaghetti sauce. I wouldnt substitute anything in this recipe, but then again...experimenting can get you places! ;)

1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (4 ounce) can mushrooms
2 teaspoons sweet basil
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 -1 1/2 teaspoon onion salt
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Combine all in saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
