With today's increasingly health-conscious lifestyle, many individuals are seeking healthier alternatives to traditional snacks. Granola bars, known for their convenience and portability, are a popular choice for on-the-go nourishment. However, many commercially produced granola bars are often laden with added sugars, unhealthy fats, and excessive sodium, defeating the purpose of a healthy snack. Creating low-sodium chewy granola bars at home allows for customization and control over ingredients, ensuring a nutritious and satisfying snack that caters to individual dietary needs and preferences.

CHEWY, NUTTY, HEALTHY GRANOLA BARS
Chewy, nutty, chocolaty, and packed with tasty energy, no one will ever know these bars are low-fat and healthy! They're very easy to make and you can pack in everyone's favorite nuts and fruits. My family has now stopped buying Kashi® and chewy bars because we love these so much. These are gluten-free when made with rice flour and appear to be professionally made thanks to the small spoonful of corn syrup that keeps everything tightly combined and gives the bars a nice shine. Have fun experimenting with different combinations of nuts, dried fruits, and toppings! Almond butter works well, too!

(SUPER HEALTHY) CHEWY GRANOLA BARS
This is a base recipe that is full of nutrient rich ingredients but yet is not overly sweet. The result is a chewy, almost cake-like granola bar though not at all similar to any that you would find in the supermarket. This recipe is pretty flexible so don't hesitate to modify to suit your tastes. For a vegan version, replace the honey with maple syrup. And, try some of the suggested additions. (Updated March 2008)
