Maid Rite loose meat sandwiches are a staple of Iowa cuisine. The sandwich is purported to have been created by Fred Angell in 1926 at his Maid-Rite Sandwich Shop in Muscatine, Iowa. The loose meat is made from ground beef that is cooked on a flat-top griddle until it is browned and crumbled. It is then served on a bun with a variety of toppings, such as ketchup, mustard, and pickles. Maid Rite loose meat sandwiches are a popular choice for lunch or dinner, and they can be found at Maid Rite restaurants throughout Iowa and the Midwest.

MAID-RITE (LOOSE MEAT)

Maid-Rite (Loose Meat) image

I was born and raised in Marshallton Iowa. And there is noting like a Taylors Maid-Rite. You are not going to get any closer to the TRUE recipe than this. Since the original owners have changed, so has the recipe. The Creator of the maid-rite was a butcher, so you know he is not going to use JUST HAMBURGER. The meat has to be ground FINELY. small little morsels. You DO NOT use ketchup on these sandwiches. It changes the flavor of the meat. You leave yourself out of the true taste if you do. Give this a try, You will not regret it. :)
