Tips:

  • Choose high-quality cream cheese: For the creamiest and most flavorful bars, use full-fat cream cheese. Avoid using low-fat or non-fat cream cheese, as they will not produce the same results.
  • Make sure the butter is cold: Cold butter is essential for creating a flaky streusel topping. If the butter is too warm, it will melt into the flour and sugar and the streusel will be greasy.
  • Use fresh lemon zest: Fresh lemon zest adds a bright and citrusy flavor to the bars. Avoid using bottled lemon juice, as it will not provide the same flavor.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the bars tough. Mix the ingredients just until combined.
  • Bake the bars until the edges are golden brown: The bars are done baking when the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bars cool completely before serving: The bars need to cool completely before serving so that they can set properly.

Conclusion:

These cream cheese streusel bars are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They are perfect for any occasion, from potlucks to birthday parties. With a creamy filling and a flaky streusel topping, these bars are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
