Steps:
- 1. Toss all ingredients except for sliced red onions.
- 2. Mix all ingredients for poppy seed dressing in blender. Then pour amount you would like on salad and toss again. This poppy seed recipe makes enough for when I triple the recipe to make for church.
- 3. Put slices of red onion on top for garnish.
Tips:
- For the best flavor, use fresh, juicy oranges. Mandarin oranges are the traditional choice, but you can also use blood oranges, Cara Cara oranges, or any other sweet orange variety.
- If you don't have any fresh oranges on hand, you can use canned mandarin oranges. Just be sure to drain them well before adding them to the salad.
- To make the salad ahead of time, simply prepare the shrimp and dressing and store them separately in the refrigerator. When you're ready to serve, combine the shrimp, oranges, and dressing and toss to coat.
- This salad is also a great way to use up leftover shrimp. If you have any cooked shrimp on hand, simply add it to the salad instead of cooking new shrimp.
- For a more flavorful salad, try grilling or roasting the shrimp before adding it to the salad.
Conclusion:
Mandarin orange shrimp salad is a light, refreshing, and flavorful salad that's perfect for any occasion. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it sweet, tangy, or spicy, this salad is sure to please. So next time you're looking for a healthy and delicious salad to enjoy, give mandarin orange shrimp salad a try.
