TERIYAKI MARINATED CHICKEN

Teriyaki Marinated Chicken image

I searched for a long time to find a teriyaki marinade with a flavor as good as what you find in some restaurants, with the right amount of sweet and salty. Finally I made up my own recipe where the flavor increases the longer you marinate. Also works well with pork chops or beef steaks.

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into bite size pieces
2 cups dry white wine, divided
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 onion
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce

AWESOME 48 HOUR MARINATED TERIYAKI CHICKEN (NORM'S TERIYAKI)

Awesome 48 Hour Marinated Teriyaki Chicken (Norm's Teriyaki) image

Two days may seem like an awful long time to marinate but I promise you it is worth it! This recipe was given to me by my Hawaiian friend, Norm. It is an authentic, no fail, super yummy way to prepare teriyaki. I have used this same recipe for anywhere from 2-6 lbs. of meat.

Time 33m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 1/2 cups soy sauce
3/4 cup water
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 bunch green onion, chopped
8 ounces gingerroot, sliced
2 whole bulbs of garlic, each clove peeled and smashed
3 lbs boneless chicken thighs

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, mix soy sauce, water, and sugar until sugar dissolves.
  • Add green onions, ginger, and garlic to bowl.
  • Add chicken pieces.
  • Cover and marinate 48 hours.
  • Grill chicken on low 9 minutes each side or until cooked all the way through. (Make sure to grill on low or, if broiling, broil away from the heat. The high sugar content of the marinade will cause the chicken to burn if it is cooked at too high a temperature).

Tips:

  • Choose the right chicken: Use boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts for best results. Bone-in chicken will take longer to cook and may not marinate as evenly.
  • Make the marinade ahead of time: The longer the chicken marinates, the more flavorful it will be. You can marinate the chicken for up to 24 hours, but even 30 minutes will make a difference.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: The marinade is what gives the chicken its flavor, so make sure to use a marinade that you like. This recipe uses a simple marinade made with soy sauce, mirin, sake, and brown sugar.
  • Cook the chicken over medium heat: Cooking the chicken over high heat will make it tough and dry. Cook the chicken over medium heat until it is cooked through, about 8-10 minutes per side.
  • Let the chicken rest before slicing: Letting the chicken rest before slicing will help the juices redistribute throughout the meat, making it more tender and juicy.

Conclusion:

Marinated teriyaki chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. The chicken is tender and flavorful, and the teriyaki sauce is sweet, savory, and slightly sticky. Serve the chicken with rice, vegetables, or your favorite sides.

Here are some additional tips for making the best marinated teriyaki chicken:

  • Use a variety of vegetables in your stir-fry. This will add color, flavor, and nutrients to the dish.
  • If you don't have time to marinate the chicken, you can simply cook it in the teriyaki sauce without marinating it. However, marinating the chicken will give it more flavor.
  • You can also grill or bake the chicken instead of stir-frying it. Just be sure to cook the chicken until it is cooked through.

Marinated teriyaki chicken is a versatile dish that can be served with a variety of sides. It's a great option for a quick and easy weeknight dinner or a fun weekend meal.
