Tips:
- Choose the right sweet potatoes: Look for firm, smooth potatoes with no blemishes or bruises. A deep orange color indicates a higher concentration of beta-carotene, an antioxidant that gives sweet potatoes their vibrant hue and numerous health benefits.
- Roast the sweet potatoes whole: This will help them retain their moisture and flavor. If you cut them up before roasting, they will dry out more quickly.
- Use a high oven temperature: This will help the sweet potatoes caramelize and develop a crispy exterior. Aim for a temperature between 400°F and 425°F.
- Add some honey and spices: This will give the sweet potatoes a delicious glaze and enhance their natural sweetness. You can use any type of honey you like, but clover honey or wildflower honey are good choices.
- Roast the sweet potatoes until they are tender: This should take about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the potatoes. You can check for doneness by inserting a fork into the center of a potato. If it slides in easily, the potato is done.
Conclusion:
Mashed honey roasted sweet potatoes are a delicious and healthy side dish that can be enjoyed as part of a weeknight meal or a special occasion dinner. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you are looking for a new way to enjoy sweet potatoes, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
