Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Yukon Gold potatoes are a good choice for mashed potato casserole because they are starchy and creamy.
  • Cook the potatoes properly: Boil the potatoes until they are tender but not mushy. Drain the potatoes well before mashing them.
  • Use real butter and milk: Butter and milk add richness and creaminess to the mashed potatoes. Avoid using margarine or skim milk.
  • Season the mashed potatoes well: Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are essential seasonings for mashed potatoes. You can also add other herbs and spices, such as rosemary, thyme, or nutmeg.
  • Don't overmix the mashed potatoes: Overmixing the mashed potatoes will make them gluey. Mash the potatoes just until they are combined.
  • Add the cheese and bacon at the end: Stir in the cheese and bacon just before serving. This will prevent the cheese from becoming rubbery and the bacon from becoming overcooked.
  • Serve the mashed potato casserole immediately: Mashed potato casserole is best served hot and fresh out of the oven.

Conclusion:

Mashed potato casserole is a classic comfort food that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. With a few simple tips, you can make the best mashed potato casserole ever.
