Steps:

  • Put the potatoes into a large pot, add the bay leaf, 2 tablespoons salt, and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes. 1/4 cup cream (up to)

2 winter squash, halved lengthwise and seeded
1 tablespoon butter, melted
½ cup butter
7 fresh bay leaves
½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 tablespoon maple syrup, or to taste

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Place squash cut-side up on a baking sheet and brush with 1 tablespoon butter.
